ALLEGED CRUELTY.
Per Press Association. TAUMARUNUI, April 24. At the Magistrate’s Court Mr l’lutts, S.M., gave hi.s reserved decision in a case wherein W. D. Williamson was charged with cruelty to 123 sheep in that he omitted to supply them with proper and sufficient food from February 11 till February 14. They bad allegedly also been without food for two days previous to February 11, the date on which accused took charge ol them. Tho ease aroso out of die annual sheep fair, when more than 30,000 sheep chunged hands and there wus much congestion.
The magistrate said it was no doubt correct that thorn was unusual delay in obtaining trucks to accommodate such a largo number of sheep that hud to bo sent away by rail after the sale, but that did not, justify the accused in keeping tho animals confined for so long a period without sufficient foal, Accused was convicted and fined £lO with costs. Security for appeal was fixed at £3O.
