VOTE SATURDAY SATURDAY HALF-HOLIDAY HALF-HOLIDAY WITH FRIDAY LATE SHOPPING NIGHT PROGRESS Towns like Napier, New Plymouth, Timaru, Oamaru, AVanganui, Cambridge, Hamilton, Masterton, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and others have universal Saturday closing. They have tried and found it the best. Is Palmerston North going to be so far behind the times as to still retain the mid-weekly holiday. The unbroken shopping week means better economic working and consequent progress for the individual and town. The day of “It was good enough for grandfather and it’s good enough for me” is past. We are in a progressive age. CONVENIENCE Why be a town divided unto itself. Schools, Banks, Professions, Artisans, Manual Workers and some of the shops have Saturday half-holiday. A\ by not all? The Friday late night gives the. opportunity required for shoppers, and is recognised all over the British Empire as being the best night. Saturday is and always has been the night for Amusement Pictures, theatres, Dances, Parties, etc. REMEMBER! THAT SHOPS SELLING PERISHABLE GOODS DO NOT CLOSE ANY HALF-DAY, AND THEREFORE WILL NOT BE AFFECTED. HAPPINESS Let every member of a family have the opportunity of being together over the week-end. Don’t bo of those that say, “I’ve got my Saturday—never mind about you.” Every shop assistant in Palmerston North will say, “Thank you,” if you vote Saturday. Mothers—do your bit to help on the home life of Palmerston North. CAUTION Do not be misled by absolutely untrue statements that the unbroken shopping week will retard progress of the town and a consequent loss in the value of property. There are no grounds on which to base an assertion of that nature. But, on the contrary, reports from Chambers of Commerce and prominent business houses of towns similarly situated to Palmerston are overwhelmingly in favour of the Saturday Halfholiday, with the late Friday Shopping Night. YOTE SATURDAY YOTE SATURDAY AND BE PROGRESSIVE PROGRESSIVE
