FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
COURT MANAWATU. At the fortnightly meeting of Court Manawatu, A.0.F., No. 5655, held in the Foresters’ Hall, Main street, on Monday night, in the absence of the C.lt., Bro. Levy, P.C.R. Bro. Holgerson presided oyer a largo attendance of members, including a number of visiting brethren. Four candidates were initiated into the court and order, and three proposed for membership. At tho conclusion of tho meeting, a large number of brethren took part in UlO card tourney, Bro. A. W. Cooksley winning the prize. Bro. J. Boucher kindly donated a prize to the winner of the most points during the season at the card tourneys. OROUA LODGE. Tho usual fortnightly meeting of Oroua Lodge of Druids. No. 5. was held last night, A.D. Bro. C. Archer presiding. Throe new members were initiated and three candidates proposed for membership. Jiodge closed at 8.30, when ladies and friends of members were admitted and a euchre tourney was held. The ladies’ prize was won bv Mrs Wright and the men’s by Bro. F. Pycroft. An impromptu dance was held from 10.30 onwards.
