STOLEN GELIGNITE
CAUSES AN EXPLOSION. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, April 22. It is now suggested that the gelignite which caused the explosion in J. Duncan’s electrical accessories premises in Bridge road, Richmond, was stolen by thieves who recently burgled city business places, and was hidden in Duncan’s shop and exploded when the fire broke out. —Press Association. ENEMIES BLAMED. MELBOURNE, April 22. Air Duncan, senior partner in the firm in whose premises in Richmond the explosion occurred, blames some enemies, who lie said thought they should have shared in his business success. He knows he lias enemies who would he glad to inconvenience him. He thought the explosion was caused deliberately, as lie never hud gelignite on the premises.—Press Association.
The frontages of thirty-three shops were destroyed by this mysterious explosion and damage estimated at £30,000 done.
