QUARTERLY RETURNS. The returns of the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court ' for the quarter ended on March 31, 1925, are as follow, the figures in parentheses being those for the corresponding period last year:—Sitting days: Civil, before the magistrate, 13 (10), before justices, 2 (1): criminal, before the magistrate, 15 (18), before justices, 34 (49). Total number of persons charged criminally during the quarter: Femnlcs, 74 (108) ; males, 204 (215). Of the total of 278, there wore 18 juveniles, as against five during the corresponding period Jn 1924. Criminal fees amounted to £270, as against £283 7s Bd. Civil plaints filed, 471 (459); total amount sued for, £6484 14s 9d (£6532 3t; lOd) ; eases tried, 329 (306) ; total amount recovered, £4343 9s 2d (£2944 2s 9d) ; judgment summonses issued, 137 (91); distress warrants issued, 46 (25) ; warrants of committal issued, 7 (9) ; civil fees, £305 (£505 19s).
