This week members of the -various ridings of the Kairanga County Council are carrying out, in company With the engineer, the annual inspection of the county. To-day Taonui riding wrs visited, while the Mangaone and Fitzherbert ridings will be inspected on Thur (day and Friday. The detectives attached to the local police stalf have in %ind the investigation of a complaint that on Monday evening a young lady, when walking along Grey street about 1C o’clock, was followed and assaulted by a man who took to flight when she persistently called for help. The young lady in question suffered severely from .shock and her dress was badly torn, though she was otherwise uninjured.
