SCHOOL WORK.

LIABILITY FOR POSTAGE FEES. A circular received at the meeting ot tho High Schools Board of Governors at last night’s meeting from the department stated that the latter had been asked by a high school board to provide the cost of postage on work corrected by the teachers and sent to pupils during ttie epidemic, but in view of the fact that high schools received much rnbro liberal allowances for incidental expenses than primury schools, and that there must be a saving in tho work of cleaning and maintenance while « schools were closed, the department thought that boards should be able to meet the cost of postage. It bad come to the knowledge of the department, however, that some schools were requiring parents to supply stamped envelopes for the return of pupils’ work when corrected, but that should not be necessary. The parents might bo asked to pay the inward postage but tho school should bear the cost of the outward postage. The rate was id for each two ouunces in each packet provided they were not posted in closed envelopes. Mr Durward thought that the board Bhould enter a protest but it was finally decided to take no action. The rector said that very few packets of work had been received unstamped.
