(Fee Press Association.) NAPIER. May 30. ; A very thick fog enveloped the town and bay this afternoon ami evening, and several of the trawling Hcci fount! ft difficulty in making port. The trawler Wanona went ashore about 0 p.m. on tho town beach about 700 yard? beyond the end of the Esplanade. The steamer Fairy and an oil launch went to her assistance about 9 p.m., but iftcr aoveral ineffectual attempts to get the trawler off ti was decided to abandon tho task for the night. The trawler Savaii also got on to the beacu near the breakwater, but was subsequently got off. Another trawler, the Kmt, wan seen making in the direction of Pet an c. but as the fog is now a little Jess dense, she will probably return to port without mishap. It is expected that the Wanona will be got off at the next high tide if the fog lifts. She is owned by Mr J. Corry. of Napier. WAN GAN Ul, May 80. At the Supremo Court to day Eopoaum Polio was found not guilty on a charge of sheep stealing. Ilia seventeen yearold son, who was charged conjointly with him, was found guiitv, and remanded till the morning.
