A rommunieation was received from the same v body eonveving a resolution passed at ,1 a general meeting regarding the vote of I; £5 made to the secretary. The motion G was ; "That the sub-union wbh to a>k 51 the Manauatu Union that if the donating of a trophy to the -.üb-union s secretary is what is 1 the grant or £!<«.» by the New Zealand 5 Union to Mr Dixon or annual granin ' v made to other honorary secreUirienr c Also, that tlie paving over the balance to the Manawatu Union he left over pending a reply of the Manawatu - Cnion." \ The chairman explainea that the j trouble with the Fo.vton section had arisen through that body presenting a statetnent of accounts showing a credit balance ot" t'l'J I'is, which amount was < duly credited on the balance-sheet of ! the' Union. The Foxton section, how- j ever, only remitted £7 1-3 of thj amount, staling that the balance had ] been voted as a bonus to the secretary. ' The Union thereupon replied that the amount must be paid over in the lir>t place, and at the same time instructing the secretary to privately inform Mr ; Sutherland that the rules of profe>- j .sionaitsm would debar such a vote i:. ! any case. The reply to this was that j the section wrote and stated that the amount had been expended in a " trophy," to which the Union replied denroea' ing the act ion of the section, and asking for the immediate refund of the amount. Mr Payne desired to read rules on the question of professionalism, but the chairman stated that that was only a side issue. The position simply was that the Foxtou Executive had no power to retain possession of the I mon's funds. Mr Manson (the treasurer) detailed the facts which led up to the present state of affairs and said he had advised the secretary at Foxion that the amoun: must first "go through the Vnioa's accounts if passed, and be paid out by cheque. His balance sheet, through the action ot the Executive, showed a deficit of £i> still. After considerable discussion the following resolutions were carried : — "That this Union request the Executive of the Foxtou section of PJ*>o to forward the balance due to this I'mora as shown by their balance sheet, failing compliance with this request the members of the Executive be suspended and the same be reported lotbe JS.Z. Union." "That the secretary be instructed to point out to the secretary oi the Foxtou section that there is no minute on the Union's books with reference to professionalism and further that their balance sheet showing a credit balance of £12 12s was passed by the auditorof this Union and the amount carriul to the credit, eonsequcntiy the same must be paid." In reply to th«' request of the Foxt:m section, it was decided that the question of representative match be left till later in the season. The request from the Old Boy> Chit' for referees' expenses was withdrawn after a long discussion. In reply to a request from the Feilduig Club the Secretary was instructed to forward copies of the reports of 1 referees on whose evidence a spectator : had recently been disqualified. Messrs C. H Warden and 11. Young were elected to vacancies on the man- ' agement committee of the I nion, Mr . Payne alone dtssentmg. ; It was decided to write to tha Borough Council, asking for permission to charge admission fee m future to matches to be played on the Sports ground,.and to guar&nteo a sum of £5 for tho use of the ground, providing that in ease the perr ecntage on gates exceeds this amount a [ refund of the execas be made.
