Bryee, Secretary for Ireland, has announced that he will make a grant for three years to teach the Irish language m the national schools. Mr Bryce's Labourers of Ireland Bill has been read a first time. It provides for loans of four a quarter millions on land purchase terms enabling County Councils to erect 25,000 cottages. Towards the annual interest £22,300 will be derived from Irish sources, £25,000 from rent, and JE28.000 annually from the Exchequer grant, leaving £23,000 to be borne by the rates.
