Rongotea Notes.
(From Our Own Correspondent.; Progress is «till tho order in our town, A handsome addition i« being made to Dr. Slondiihl'a house, which will givo oar popular medico much-needed room. A nice residence is aleo being built at Glen Oroua for Mr Gritmvalt. Tender# cloßcd on Saturday for the drainage of tho Bongotea Factory. It seema a pity that a comprehensive j sohemo for tho general drainage of the town waa not embodied in tho proposed works. If huch wins dono it would coaio cheaper /or all parties. Property i» still changing hands. I learn that the town and grounds formerly owned by Mr Edwards have been purchased by a local butcher. Tho section formerly owned by the late Mr Turner has been aecured by the members of tho mystic tie, who, I learn, intend erecting a suitable hall for their meeting!?. Mr Darragh is getting tho bricks on tho Bite in the Square, where ho proposes erecting a block of buildings in brick. The members of the Anglican Church aro endeavouring to obtain a resident Minister for our town. I hope they will succeed. I am giad to sec my suggestion re electric light was acted upon by oar local body, so that wo have our streets lighted these dark nights. A few extra lights are badly required, more especially at the corner near the Coronation Hall. Residents are wondering when it wiil be available for private lighting. Doubtless if the matter is properJy handled it will make the light self-supporting. .Judging from the meeting of temperance people hold last Monday to elect trustees for their hall not much interest is taken as only a few turned up. Two now trustees were appointed and they are to report on hall matters to a future meeting.
