It is a good thing for the game when your paper throws light on football raatt«r« m the town m Jt is doing, as by this mean# only will reform be effected. — I am, etc., Oui I'\ic«TIUJJ.KU. (To the Editor), Slii, —£ notice by this morning's paper a correspondent signing himself j "louch " appears to he very much hurt over the report* by " Fair 'I ry " appearing in last night'* St asjm hi> of oaturday'« football matches. I am ple.wd to fee that at last someone in I'almer<4ton h ;tble to spare t'le time to witness and give correct reports of our national game and of those who control it. 1 w it nessed the senior match on Saturday and quite agree with " Fair Try " in his criticism of the referee and player#. Why should he shield a referee that is incapable of eon rolling the game ? The I public who heln to keep football going are getting full up of "Hush" referees, and when the services of men like Manning, Harper, Xa&h, and Warden can be obtained, why are third class referees allowed to control senior garnet? and ppoii footballers and the spectators afternoon's enjoyment If sueh exhibitions as given on Saturday are allowed to pass wifchoat strong remarks, such as those given by u Fair Try," football will soon become & thing of the past here, as spectators have bad enough of this sort of thing. Whether or not " Fair Try " is a person that should not be allowed on the crounds I cannot way. but I a:n satisfied ho knows what ho in talking about.— I am, etc., " A Hi'Ki T.uon." May 29tb, 1908.
