Skating.
The Olympia Kink. Boiler-skating during the coming season was inaugurated under most favourable circumstances at the Zealandia Hall last night, the floor, gallery and stage being well filled with skaters and spectators. The Mayor, Mr M. Cohen, was to have opened the proceedings, but owing to indisposition his mantle descended upon Mr D. Pringle, who delivered a few appropriate remarks, and pleasure commenced. It continued till closing time without showing the least sign of cessation. The floor was in excellent condition, skates of firstclass quality, the attentions of the staff most assiduous, and lastly enjoyable music was discoursed by the band. The rink will be open this evening. At 9.80 Mr F. Mcintosh gave an exhibition of fancy and trick skating, which was, judging by the applause, well appreciated. The public opening will be held this evening. Hours and prices are advertised elsewhere.
