Farmers' Union Provincial Conference.
The Farmers' Union Wellington Provincial Conference will this year be held at Pahiatua. The gathering will begin on Tuesday morning next. The order paper is a long one, as there are 55 remits from the various branches set clown for consideration. Chief among them are the following. The name of the branch forwarding the remit is placed first. Makuri.—That the Government be urged to so amend the Land Act _ as to give all Crown tenants the option of purchasing the freehold of their land at the original value, and the pavment of the difference between the 4 per cent, now charged on L.I P. and the 5 per cent, charged to tenants with right of purchase. Rangiwahia.—That the Colonial Council be asked to draft a Bill granting the freehold to Crown tenants, and to take steps to have the same introduced early next session, and use all its influence to secure for it the fullest support of the freehold members of the House. , , , Feilding.—That the Land Act be altered to allow the tenants under the Land for Settlement Act to take 7 crops off their land before sowing down in grass, and that-the crop eaten by cattle or sheep be not counted as a crop. Mauriceville. —That the Railway De-i partment be requested to run as many as possible exclusively stock trains during the busy season. Marton. —That attention be drawn to the unfair piactice now in vogue of deducting draft charges of lib in each cws. of wool sold. Palmerston N.—That the Government authorise the Agent-General to enquire into the excessive London warehouse charges on wool, with a view of getting the same reduced. Palmerston North.—That public recognition of our dependence on Almighty God for ' successful results from our labours is essential to the success of a Farmers' Union. Palmerston North.—That one or more experimental farms be established on second class lands, with a view of information being gained as to the best methods to improve same. Gladstone.— That the Union strongly objects to any increase in the Customs Tariff Kiatawa. - That as the first step towards the removal of all restrictive

Pahiatua.—That the Government be asked to release local bodies from th£ levies that are now made upon them for the maintenance of bridges on main roads. Pahiatua. —That the Government be recommended to grant free immigration to domestic servants of good character under the age of 25 years. Halcombe —That a special Accident Insurance Policy be drawn up in the interests of farmers, covering all their general risks, apart from Contract work. Halcombe.—That the Union formulate a commercial scheme towards the end of creating a " Producers' Union," in the interest of the farming community.
