Hockey.

Three matches were played on the Showground yesterday and one at Feilding. The results were as anticipated, no surprises being effected. Senior. Old Boys (5) beat Feilding (2t. Awapuni (2) beat Pioneer-Y.M.C.A. (0). . Phoenix(4) beat High School (0). OLD BOYS V. FEILDING. This match was played at Feilding and resulted in a win for Old Boys by sto 2. The play does not call for any particular comment, the mud being the principle feature of the affair. Occasional flashes of brilliant play were witnessed. The backs of the winning team did some good hard hitting. The form of the Feilding men was an improvement on that previously displayed. Mr E. Tucker held the whistle. AWAPUNI y. PIONEER-Y.M.C.A. The country team had no difficulty in inflicting defeat on Pioneer-Y.M.C.A. by 2 goals to nil. The latter made frequent unsuccessful shots at the goal. The winners' scores were got by the efforts of H. Scott and D. Sorenson. Mr C. H. Warden was referee. * PHCENIX v. HIGH SCHOOL. The contest between these two teams resulted in a decisive victory for the Phoenicians by 4 goals io nil. High School made a good defence, but were unable to do much in the way of attacking. Wood (2), Batchelar, and Amos got the goals for the winners. The game was controlled by Mr L. Giorgi.
