Per Press Association. DUNEDIN. May 28. At the Supreme Court to-day George Stafford Mathieson, railway porter, was charged with breaking and entering and stealing tobacco and cigarettes. The prisoner was remanded. William Walquist was charged with assault and robbery. It was alleged that having come from Ashburton with William Mavin, they knocked abouttogether in tho evening, tho stranger being eventually taken out to Ocean Beach and severely assaulted and robbed of 18s. Tho jury, after four hours' retirement, wero unable to agree, and a new trial will be held on the Judge's return from tho Timaru sessions.
