An Italian doctor, tho Chevalier Cesaro Ballabenc, has maintained before the Therapeutical Society of London that he has discovered anew and certain euro for gout, rheumatic and obstinate neuralgia. Dr. Ballabene believes in the theory that the primary cause of rheumatic and gouty disease is an infectious element, probably composed of micro-organisms circulating in the blood, tor the destruction of these microbeß he has prepared a chemical compound, which he asserts has proved moat efficacious. At first ho experimented on frogs and rabbits, and then he tried his remedy on human patients. Over 1800 people in Italy and Germany, of ages varying from 6tq 85 years, and illnesa dating from a few montha to 80 years, 90 per cent, were completely cured. The treatment is hypodermic, and Dr. Ballabeno confidently Btates that neuralgic and rheumatic patients are virtually cured after a few days, and no bad results follow. The preparation is injected by means of the common Pravatz syringe, by introducing the needle deep into the mußCular tissues.
