Tht-ro is 110 alteration in the beef tnHik':t since laat week. The butter market is steady, and prices well maintained. There is a general and active demand for moderate supplies coming forward. The average price for choice N.Z. butter to-day is lois per cwt; Danish 106* per cwt. Siberian is quoted at 955. Supplies are likely to fall off from there. The cheese market in firm, and a much better demand exists for both tvhito and coloured makes at 61a per cwt, Tho hemp market iB quiet, and only f-mail business doing. Tin; market is being afTectcd by tho expectation of heavy arrivals. The price of f.a q„ | Wellington, on epot, to day, is £31 10s j per ton. April and June shipments are ' quoted at £81. The stock on hand in 495 tons against 1338 iomi for the corresponding period last year.
