Te Rangi Pai.

Opera House, To-morrow Evening. An event of more than usual interest takes place at the Opera House tomorrow evening when Te liangi Pai, the world-famed co ltralto, will give tlie first of her two song recitals. All the larger centres have eagerly welcomed the famous contralto, and the Otago. Daily Times in its notice of the opening recital in Dunedin, says :—" A huge audience awaited the appearance of Te Rangi Pai, the great contralto, who since leaving our shores six years ago, has won in the world of song the highest honours which a singer can aspire to, has sung before almost every crowned head in Europe, and has gained the approbation of the most fastidious of the world's audiences. ISo finer art of vocalisation than was afforded by Te Pai could possibly have been placed before her hearers. Her perfect repose of manner, the easy production of the voice, her concen trated dramatic power,' and perfect finish of style stamped her as an artist of commanding ability and personality. She strikes one as an artist who has completely mastered the difficulties of

technique, and nothing is more striking than the apparent simplicity and easiness of ner performance." Miss Amy Murphy's popularity as a soprano is assured locally, and a genuine treat may be anticipated in the duets by these two fine artists. Mr Handley Wells is a bass with a splendid range, and Mr W. B. Cadzow's sweet tenor roice will be heard to advantage in popular ballads. Mr Horace Hunt, the pianiste of the party, supplies the incidental accompaniments. The box plan remains open at Mr W. Park's until 1 p.m. to-morrow, and from thence onward until 7 p m. it will be on yiew at the Opera House vestibule. Day sale tickets may also be secured at the same time.
