Junior Competitions.

Kia Toa v. Palmerston-

The match between these two teams was fought out on tho Sportsground, and after a good game had eventuated neither aide secured an advantage, the contest ending in a draw—B points each. The ground and ball were very slippery, while rain fell throughout the progress of the game. Crawford scored for Kia Toa and Rickleben for Palmerston, neither being converted. For Kia Toa, Hodgins, at full, was good, his linefioding kick being of great benefit to his side. Edgecombe, at five-eight, must have thought the ball was a legacy judging by themannerhe stuck to it when it came his way ; somebody ought to tcach him to pass and he may make a good player. Crawford, at half, did not have many chances on Saturday. One apparent weakness was line-finding; he should practice it. McDonald, Brown, Cronin, and Harris were the pick of the forwards. Of the Palrnerston backs, Stewart, at centre, waa very safe and played a passable game. Stagpoole, at five-eight, will, it he is not careful, receive a certificate entitling him to pay his fare in to watch football, not play it. Ask your butcher for some " pluck." Ryan, at half, played a very nice game; comment needless. Ricldeben will score a big average of points—-for the opposing side—by his off-side "tac-tics"; cold tea is good for that complaint.
