Mr Pierce C. Freeth's letter.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—lf Mr Freeth is tinder tie impression tliat my letter in your issue of Saturday was part of a newrpaper controversy with, him he is greatly mistaken. If I wished to conduct a controversy with that gentleman I presume the columns of his own paper, in which I understand he has been writing in the usual Freethian fashion, are open to me. On the question at issue you honoured me with two editorials, and as the matter is of public interest I mado my statement in your columns. As for Mr Freeth, as he used language purposely insulting towards College street School Committee and staff, I have already stated in your columns that I decline to take any notice of anything he says on the subject. While Mr Freeth writes in the fashion that he does I must decline to lower myself by conducting a controversy with him.— I am, etc., Isaac Jollv. Palmerston jS"., May 11, 1906.
