From Clerk Rangitikei County Conncil, stating that as the river has gone back under the. bridge at Onepuhi, the Council has decided to expend a small amount in improving the eastern approach. .■/•'.
From Joseph Nathan and Co:, Bunnythorpe, asking permission to run a light tramway across the road in connection with their dried hulk factory.r-Granted, subject to Engineer's approval. Prom Mr Mitchell, calling attention to the nuisance caused by a numbor of cattle and horses running on the Colyton raad.—Cr Pearce said the request seemed a strange one coming from this man who had reared all his cow-i on tho road for the past seven years, and at present was giving up dairying. From D. Herlihy, Aorangi, complaining of a nuisance caused by a'oask and tub being kept on the road by one, of the settlers; also, that a"number of'oalves and horses were allowed to graze on the road.—Mr Barker to be informed that he is to impound c*ttle.
EEPOBTS.
Morgan O'Brien, Health Inspector for the district, reported fer the month of September as follows:—"No case, of infeotion has been reported during tbe month. I have made return visits tp' different places within the county, and witir satisfactory- resultp. Regarding milking sheda, etc, much cannorbe yet expected owing to the wet season. The Defiance creamery, Kimbolton.road, and Dairy Company's factory, are in excellent condition, and no cause of complaint re the piggery, which I understand was a source of trouble in the past."lußpector Perry, Palmerston North, reported as follows for the month of September:-—" I have visited several premises where dairying is being carried on. and on one of these I found milking being done under filthy conditions. The owner has since complied with a request to clean up his premises."
RESOLUTIONS,
Resolved (Crs Vincent—Pearco): That the ranger's duty daring the das time be suspended for the summer months, as heretofore, commencing November Ist, and the hours to be from 7 a.m to sp.m. Resolved (Crs Vincent—Beid) .-That the engineer .report on the advisableneS3 of constructing a drain from the Commercial Hotel corner to the Pohangina river bank, to drain the. whole or a part of the township.of Ashhurst, and give an estimate of cost.
Resolved (Crs . Pearce—Pleasants): That the engineer be instructed to inform Mr C. Koberstein that this Council does not put in culyorto to private entrances unless an existing oulvert has been interfered with by the Conncil. Resolved (Crs Bosher—Reid): That the chairman take the necessary steps to raise a loan of £750, under "The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1901," for widening the formation, and metalling and onlverting Kimbolton and Makinoroads, from the :61d to/the present boundaries of the Feilding Borough. Resolved (Crs/Wheeler — Pearce): That the engineer beiihstructed to take the necessary steps to compel those persons responsible [for . gorse growing on the roads to. clear .the same.
Resolved (Cr "'Pesirce — Pleasants) : That the* clerk'be instructed to give notice to Mr Gray,- on the Bunnythorpe road, .to remove the frees on his property causing damage to th a said roadi as required by the Public Works Act. DEPUTATION.
A deputation waited on the Council and requested that the work on Jepson's Hill road be. completed, it being now some nine months since, the contracts had been let. ; The road was in a most disgraceful condition and •■ unsafe for traffic at the present time.—The Chairman informed the deputation that the matter would be attended to as soon as possible.
