A mannama'd F. Charles was drowned in the Bangitikei river last evening whilst crossing on the wire suspension bridge, near the township. Owing to the river being in flood it is impossible to trace the body. *".•.. CHRISTCHURCH, This day.
'. Leslie Bearman, the 7-year-old boy who shot liis sister at Greenpark yesterday, previously threatened to shoot an elder sister who had taken the gun from him. The boy, .however, retained possession of the gun and by some means obtained a cartridge. An inquest is being held.
