NURSING GUILD.
The-ladies -who'have completed their second year at"~amb'ularice work in Palm. erston have, on the initiative" of Mr E. Hitchings, formed a Nursing Division under the auspices of the St. John Ambulance Association.. The: objects the members of the Nursing Guild have in view.are.to render' assistance in cases of absolute poverty and to assist in other •ways where trained nurses are required. In the large centres these guilds have done an enormous amount of good. That their work is appreciated may be seen from the fact that the Wellington public two or three weeks ago subscribed _280ti in connection with a bazaar, the object of wnich was to supply funds for the employment of a professional superintendent. The local society "starts 'operations with .a menibeiv ship of about' 20 ladies, but hopes to be as useful, as those of the larger centres. There are a large number of cases in the town in which the members' assistance will be valuable. Mrs Dr. Capmbellihas accepted the position of patroness, Mrs H. Mowlem is superintendent, Miss Milverton secretary, and Miss McDowell treasurer. Any donations to the general fund for providing small necessaries will be gratefully received by the guild.
