LONDON, Oct. 6. General/ Stoessel reports that the Japanese, .have destroyed-the reservoirs and are agaiirapproachirig. ■:• BRISBANE, October 6. The Government-Resident at Thursday Island telegraphs that two Russian warships were seen about 60 miles north-west; of Thursday Island last week.
One grounded on a shoal and was towed otf by the other.
The Admiral is understood to have instructed 'the Pylades, at present at Cairns, to investigate, and the Cadmus leaves Sydney immediately to assist. : The Government Resident has been, on a' cruise in the ketch Melbidir. ;
While at Badu Island the natives told him-they had seen war vessels, but information was scant.

The Russian Consul discredits the statement that Russian cruisers are at Thursday Island.
