CHRISTCHURCH, October 5,

In connection with the protest against the cutting down of trees m Hagley Park, the Domain Board to-day received a telegram from the Hon. T. Y. Duncan ordering the cessation of the felling until inquiries had been made. The Board immediately instructed its employees to stop felling. .

NELSON, Oct. 5,

A deputation from the local branch, of the Medical Association waited on the Hospital Board to-night, and urged the erection of an annexe to the hospital for the treatment of consumptives. A committee was set up to consult with medical men. The Board agreed to order the annexe.
