A fire last night destroyed the gasworks, coal-shed, wash-house, workshop, dairy and store, valued at many hundreds of pounds, at J. Livingston's farm, Ohawe. There was a small insurance on the buildings, but the contents were uninsured. The residence was narrowly saved. The inmates were a-bed when the- outbreak occurred and were aroused by a neighbour, who saw a thick volume of smoke.

WELLINGTON, This .day. Henry Banks, a letter-carrier, came up for sentence this morning on a charge of wilfully neglecting to deliver a number of circulars. He admitted that he had left the circulars at a butcher's and had failed to call for them again to deliver them. Judge Edwards commented on the seriousness of letter-carriers not delivering posted commimications, but in view of the circumstances of the case released the accused on his own recognisances, and ordered him to come up for sentence when called on.

At a meeting of the Trust Lands Trust voters last evening a motion was carried "That, in order to better utilise the propbrties of the trust, this meeting of the Trust Lands • Trust- voters approves of the proposal of the trustees to seek power from Parliament to raise money on the security of trust revenue as indicated in the proposed bill." The Trust proposes to raise a loan of £10,000 for the purpose of building on vacant trust lands in town.
