LONDON, Oct. 3.

The Daily Telegraph's Simingting correspondent says that one theory is that Marshal Oyama is awaiting the fall of Port Arthur for reinforcements and another that he is keeping the troops.at Yentai quiescent while secretly attempting to outflank General Kuropatkin's left.

General Stoessel has thanked the garrison for repulsing the assaults from the 19th to the 22nd, especially commending the volunteers under Captain Sychaff and Lieutenant Pogorsky for heroically capturing a high hill and fort.
