Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have received the following telegram from their London office, dated Sept. 28th :— "Tallow.—Since the date of our last telegram low and inferior descriptions of tallow are 3d to 6d per cwt. higher, but buyers seem unwilling, to operate forward at present prices at the moment.''

Also the following, dated September 291h.— ........

Butter.—The market is firm for finest qualities;-but "dull -for medium and iuferior qualities. ;.

Wheat.—Since the date of our last telegram wheat is generally higher by 3d to 6d.per quarter. Wool sales.-^The sales close firm and active with brisk competition. Eor Merino wools prices are on the ..average, at par to 5 percent, higher than closing' rates of last series, with the exception of inferior and faulty scoured wools, for which prices- are rather lower. Eine and medium crossbred wools are on the average 5 per cent, higher than closing rates of last series, and for coarse crossbred wools any change in prices is in favour of sellers. Out of the net quantity available for sale some 50,000 bales have been for Home consumption, 30,000 bales have been sold for the Continent, 4000 bales for America, leaving 3000 bales to be carried forward to tbe next series.

The New Zealand Loan arid Mercantile have receiyed "the following' cable from their London office dated 29th September :—Wool—A.verage current London value of the uridernoted descriptions of New Zealand greasy wool: Good Merino 13d, medium Merino lid, inferior Merino lOd,. line crossbred 12J, medium crossbred lid, coarse crosebred (40's) 10£ d, coa.se crossbred (36's) 10d. .As compared with last sales closing rates, prices are about 5 per cent, higher for crossbred, about par to 5 per cent, lower for faulty wool. Sales close firmly this day.
