The Hawke's Bay Tournament

NAPIER, October 2,

The Hawke's Bay Associated Golf Clubs tournament was concluded yesterday, ' except the contest for the Wilson Challenge Cup, which will take place between the Manawatu and Napier teams On Monday.

The ladies' championship was won by Miss Beatson, who defeated Miss Nunneley'after a good game. F. L. Gordon beat Wi Haora in the final for the. men's championship, the Poverty Bay native commencing badly. A four-ball teams match for ladies, between the Napier club and the visitors, was played, the Napier ladies winning -by 3to nil. Misses Beatson and Nunneley (Napier) and Mesdames Bidwill and A. Strang were equal; Misses Balfour and Hewlings (Napier) beat Mesdames J. Strang and Abraham; Misses Eanm'ri and MacFarlane beat Mrs P. C. Freeth .and Miss McLellan; Mrs A. A. Kennedy and Miss Jardine beat Mrs Gurr and Miss Irvine.

A four-ball men's teams match was played, the Napier team'winning with a score of 262. The Napier native team ■was second with 264, and the Manawatu team third with' 269. The Whakatu team (284), Wellington and Wanganui teams (286), and a combined districts team (304) also played.
