.. General Oyama's' force facing the Russians number 144,000;-.. bayonets; 6380 '"cavalry, and 63S guns. The Japanese are represented as being anxious to act on.the defensive.
Advices', report sharp skirmishing at various points* with unimportant casualties. ■-

A band of Chunehuses blew up tho railway 160 miles south of Harbin, killing a number of sentinels. Traffic and wires were interrupted for several hours. General Sakharoff reported that the Japanese are pouring across the Taitse at Brinsiku.
A number of Chunehuses are assisting the Japanese on the Liao river side.*
The cavalry on Thursday checked the Japanese advance in the Yentai district. On Friday they burnt seventeen junks transporting ammunition on the Hunho. Moscow province is mobilising 50,000 men.
The Smolensk and St.* Petersburg are at Algiers.
