Arthur Edward Raven, senienced this morning- to two years' imprisonment in connection with the illegal operation case, in which Thomas' Bro*-n on Monday last received fiye years, was released this afternoon by the clemency of the Crown. Word was sent to Wellington this morning, after the sentence was delivered and the authorities telegraphed an order for release. In banco to-day,. Judge .Edwards heard a motion by Wdliam Ralston \V right; and.others, who are resident in the Panhaki Road District for certiorari to remove into the Court a special order made by the Egmont County Council declaring Parihaki Road District to be merged m the Egmont County on and atter the 30th September, 1904, and that all proceedings be quashed on the grounds setiout.
