THE BACON FACTORY.
It is satisfactory to note that the shareholders of the North .Island Mild Cure Bacon Company yesterday, in dealing with the question of the removal of the works to Palmerston,1 took the progressive view of the matter that has been consistently advocated in these columns.. The meeting of shareholders affirmed the desirability of (1) removing the factory to Palmerston and (2) increasing the share capital from ' .£IO,OOO to £25,000. These resolutions have yet to be confirmed by the shareholders at a meeting to be , held a month hence. Yesterday's meeting , was practically unanimous, there being only five dissentient voices amongst upwards of SO shareholders present, and the majority included some of; Palmerston's shrewdest and most successful business men and progressive farmers. With such supporters there need be no fear, for the future of the company, when we take into consideration the many other advantages offered by. this town. "It only remains to be hoped that the resolutions, the desirability of which has been affirmed, will be carried into effect
