The Premier in Westland.

His Political Jubilee.

HOKITIKA, This 'day. ; The day promises to be'fine.for the celebration of the Premier's political jubilee. ' -" ■

A universal holiday is being observed along the coast, from Reefton to Eoss, and there is every prospect of a large attendance from all parts. The first train arrives at about noon and two others follow in quick succession.

The Premier and party are due here at one o'clock.

The town is gay with bunting, fernery and arches. The decorations generally are effective and give place to an unwonted appearance. The presentation of the plate takes place in the open air at 3 o'clock, in the presence'of a mass gathering of electors. Speeches will be delivered by the mayors of Hokitika, Kumara and Eoss, the county chairman, and the Hon. Holmes. The Premier will be entertained at a public dinner at six and at an "at home " at 9 o'clock.

This evening the town will he illuminated and the Fire Brigade will give a fireworks display. Upwards of 300 cadets will be present during the afternoon, the school committees defraying the cost of travelling.

Six brass bands will also be present. A large number of congratulatory messages are being received, including a telegram from the chairman of the Canterbury Railway Committee, "who states the want of a railway connection between Canterbury and' Westland is keenly felt on this memorable occasion.
