Sporting
The very excellent programme, drawn ' UP by the ; Ashhurst-Pbhangina'Racin"* 01ub,,as : published in.the Standard last' ; night, cannot fail to earn the commendation of sporting owners, more particularly those who run into third place, a " solatium for third horse being provid ed in every event. Apart from the alloea- ' tion of prize money, which is on a liberal and attractive scale, the only special alterations in the programme is the reduction of the Cup distance. from one mile three furlongs to l-i- miles and the reduction of the maximum welter weiaht from Sst 101b to Sst slbs. During the past few weeks the course has undergone a transformation scene, greatly improved' and extended appointments being provided in view of the next meeting which every year, is becoming more of -I counterpart of the Manawatu gathering With ordinary luck, as far as the weather is concerned, the club should easily put up a record at its next meetinc.
