' The steamer Takapuna, for the safety of which much anxiety was prevalent in town to-day, arrived from New Plymouth at 5.15 p.m. after a trip extending from 9.15 on Wednesday night. The weather was the worst experienced by Captain Holford on the coast, the seas running mountains high, but at no time waß there serious anxiety on board as to the safety of the vessel. • The delay was- solely due to the captain's desire not. to take any unnecessary risk 3at Manukau bar.

No damage was sustained either to the boat or the passengers.
