• -. -ft CHEISTCHUECH; Sept 22.^ .. A. very severe south west vale with heavy showers of rain raßed last night andrtms morning, doing* minor damage to trees and fences. The low lying parts ot the city and surrounding country were temporarily flooded. A landslip at ?™n* fa ™>» Akaroa, killed a resident, Mr William Giddens. 70 years of age. HGKITIItA. Sept; 22. -In the Supreme Court, David Shand, alias Swanstdn, wa3 convicted of the theft of £10 at Westport, on July 19th, and was sentenced to two years' impnsonment. This concludes the criminal business.
