The order was the same over the next two brußh fences, and galoping along the b*ek strsich Umslopogaiis and Hutana were fully ten lecgth: ahead of the field, Mooussin still last. No change took place over, the hurdle and hencoop in the straight, bus at Sue double in front of the stand the field closed up and the two hurdlas wera taken with the herses bunched, Towhatu showing in front immediately afier. At the post and rail ß leading from the course Umalopogßaa struck heavily, and was pulled up after jumping the next fence. The gorse hedpe on to the course again was jumped by Towhatu and Eclair together, Hutana third, and then Te Kohau and Mocassin. The same order was maintained over the jumps along the back stretch, Te Kohau and Mocassin making up ground rapidly. Along the turn before reaching the straight they were up with the leaders, and over the hen coop were in front, the Wairarapa horse with a slight advantage, which he maintained to the finish, winning rather comfortably by a length, Mocassin three lengths m front of Towhatu, Eclair was nest, fend then Hutana. Time, 6min. 12secs. Dividends, £4 163 and 17s.
