Prohibition League.
The annual meeting of the Palmer.ston N. Prohibition League was held last night' in the_ Presbyterian Hall.. There was a fair attendance. Mr. D, Matheson (president) presided. ~>'. .'' The^ Treasurer read the. financial' statement, which showed .a satisfactory credit balance on the .year's working. * •• A resolution to lower the annual member's fee was lost, and the subscription remains asformerly. V,-;: , It was decided to hold a conference of temperance workers at an early date, and to give an invitation to all temperance workers in the electorate to take part in the conference. The Rev. J. Mather, reported, as to having received a. cheque for'i's from a friend towards the funds for the organising agent's expenses. ;.... , ■ . ~ • It was reported that the first issue of The Crusader, edited by Mr Palk, would be ready-for circulation early in next month, ;and a committee was elected to arrange'for.its'distribution.. The.■■', election .of officers resulted as ■ follows :—President, Mr D. W. Lowe ; Viee-Presiderits: Beys. E. Richards, I. Jolly, J. Mather, and -H. .Beggs; Secretary, Rev.' H. Beggs; Treasurer, Mr D. Mr Matheson suitably replied and complimented the League on the election of Mr Low to the office of president.
