A meeting of the Coronation committee was held last evening at the Council chambers, the Mayor presiding. There was a fair attendance, and apologies were received from Rev. E. Richards, Major Dunk, and Oaptnm Mounsey. On the motion of Mr W. Park, it was resolved that the amalgamation of the Peace and Coronation committees be confirmed. Resolved, that the presentation of medals io returned troopers take place immediately after the united service on the showground. Mr J. Kells intimated that the natives of Oroua Bridge and Awahuri desired to take part in the service. Consideration of the programme was then proceeded with and several small details were arranged. Details are appended below. The Mayor, and Messrs Park and Haydon, were appointed a committee to arrange for speakers on the occasion. The sum of £5 was allocated to the Fire Brigade to defray the cost of their demonstration. On the motion of Mr Haydon, it was resolved that the fireworks, chocolate, flags, &c, of the Peace Committee, be purchased for £50. This step was adopted after considerable discussion had taken place on the matter, in order that the money collected from the guarantors might he refunded. Mr Haydon said that £59 was the sum collected from the guarantors. It was resolved to give £10 to the Charitable Aid Board. The Chairman stated that £389 of the £400 had been allocated. Mr H. J. Manson said the Kairanga County Council had voted £25 towards the costs, and his statement was received with applause. The sum of £10 was devoted to providing suitable programmes of the func ion, and £2 5s for supplying the Coronation March music for the bands; £10 for entertaining the natives, and £5 for refreshments for the bands. It was resolved that the committee wear roseltes on the day of the celebrations. Resolved, That a vote of thanks be accorded the Kairanga County Council for their donation, Following in the official programme for the day : —Procession to form in the Square at 11 a.m. ; united service on sh[illegible] : 12 noon ; presentation of m[illegible]rned troopers ; children's luncheon: 12.30 to 1 p.m. ; laying foundation stone of fountain in Square at 2.30 p.m. ; torchlight procession to start at 6 p.m., to be followed by fireworks display and bonfire. Speeches will be made probably at the laying of the foundation stone of the fountain.
