Tlie Supremo Court was occupied all tho afternoon hearing a chargo of assault and robbery against Jumes Heron and Edward Carr.

The latter is a member of the Tcmuka Borough Council, and the prosecutor is an old man who was violently assaulted and robbed of a watch and other articles about midnight on March 25th in a street in Tcmuka.

The piiucipal evidence against Heron wus, iirst, that while being robbed the prosecutor recognised him, nnd said, " I know you, Jim Heron," on which he wim violently struck in tho mouth and bad four tooth knocked out ; and, second, that the watch was found next morning in the grounds in front of Horon's house. Against Carr it is alleeed that ho was with Heron all night, and took him homo at one o'clock in tho morning. In defence of Heron it was stated by several witnesses that ho was too drunk to commit such an ofl'once, and that Can1 was looking after him. Carr swears ho did so, and that they never were in tho streot where tho robbery was committed.
