, Svdxey, Tuesday. Excepting the north-western district aiid portions of the coast, the whole Stato_ benefUted by the rain. It was especially good in Eastern Eiverina and the south-eastern areas. Over two incites fell at Kiandra, but it was only lieht out west.

Splendid general rains have fallen in Victoria and South Australia. This is considered a hopeful prelude to the break up of tho drougbt in Xew South TYaies.
