Commandant R.eichman, who was in command of the Boer force which ambushed Colonel Broadwood's convoy and juns, is a former U.S. soldier, who obtained a lieutenancy for bravery against the Indians in the cafripaigns of twenty years ago. Ten years-, ago or more lie went to South Africa, and as a Boer officer, commanded Americans—n w in the United States— at the timo of the Jameson incident.
