ADDINGTON MARKETS.

(Per Press Association.) Christciiurch, May 80. The entries at Addington were—73oo sheep, 1500 fat lambs, 7000 store sheep, 451 cattle, 411 pigs. Fat cattle.—3l7 on offer, heifers predominating. Bidding was erratic, many being passed at a reduction of fully -/6 per lOOlbs. Best steers brought from 7/-/- to 8/17/6, and up to 9/10/- for a few extra good; others, 4/17/6 to 6/10/- • heifers, 2/17/6 to 7/-/-; cows, 3/5/- to 6/12/6.

Fat sheep.—A mixed entry, including a fair proportion of prime freezers and good ewes. Buyers operated carefully and there was a drop of Is 6d per head in freezers. Butchers' sheep were also easier. Extra heavy wethers up to 22s : freezers, 16s 6d to 19s: lighter, 15s to 16s ; beat ewes, 16s to 18s 2d; others, 13s to los; merino wethers, 11s 3d to 12s. Fat lambs—The entry included a few really good sorts, but also a number of secondary quality. Better sorts were in demand, but not finished were neglected. A few extra prune ordinary freezers, 18s to 15s Id; butchers' sorts, 11s to 12s 6d. Store sheep.—The bulk of the yarding was made up of wethers and lambs. These met rather better sale, but in several cases owners' reserves scood in the way of business. Forward wethers, 15/- to 15/6 ; others, 13/3 to 14/6 ; lambs, 8/11 to 11/3; only one line of ewes changed hands at 13/3. Tigs.—Fatpigs held their own. Stores were hard to quit. Baconers, 30/- to 35/- for ordinary and up to 39/- extra heavy, equal to 3d per lb; porkers, 21/6 to 28/-, 34d per lb ; stores, 8/- to 14/- ; suckers and weaners, 2/6 to 5/-.
