Trouble is brewing in the western , colleries, and the men are ballotting as to whether they will give fourteen days's notice as a protest against the refusal of the mine proprietors to increase the hewing rates. Wangftiiiti Education Hoard. The meeting was resumed yesterday. Present — Messrs Baker (chairman) Bridge, Robliins, Itoso, Spuvdle, Fry, Pirani, Hurley, and Lethbridge-, M.H.R. It was decided to ask the Minister of Railways tj extend the priviloge of cheap tickets to all teacaers requiring them for the purpose of giving instruction, and to pupil teachers teaching away from home. Bunnythorpe—Application for repairs referred to Building Committee. Ashurst—£2 10s granted for certain works. Upper Pohangina (Kamoko)—Desks, Ac., to bo supplied. Stoney Greek Committee objected to Truant Inspector.—Received, Rata — Question of taking tram through school grounds referred to School Committee, . Ohingaiti—Enlargement of teacher's residence agreed to, and referred to teacher's attendance. Sanson—Teacher's residence repairs referred to building committee with power to act. Ongo Board—Application to be made to 1 Government for cost of school destroyed by fire. Awahou.—Board declined to make allowance for chimney. Apiti—Mr P. Matheson to be paid on I Apiti average. Truanoy. — The following districts were agreed to :—Foxton district—Foxton district—Foxton, Sandon, Rongotea, Taikorea, Carnarvon, Oroua Bridge, and Linton, average 524. I'eilding district— Feilding, Cheltenham, Kiwitea, Birmingham, Apiti, Colyton, Upper Taonui, Bunnythorpe, Ashurst. Eiwinui, Makino, Stanway and Ealcombe, average 1130. Hawera district — Piham, Awatuna, Otakeho, Kaponga, Kapuni, Okaiawa, Matapu, Mangatoki, Eltham, Normanby, Anderson's Road, Mangawherof Heremere, Manatahi, Manaia, Te Roti, average 1171. Messrs Lethbridge and Pirani were authorised to appoint inspectors for the southern districts, and 'Messrs Hurley and Robbins for fbe northern districts. Messrs Hurley, Robbins and Pirani were appointed a permanent attendance committee. '
