In the Assembly the Acting Breraier Btatod that the Government tad hot signed the Japanese treaty, but expressed themselves in favor or the stipulations in the treaty between Britain and Japan being made applicable to the colony if it contained a proviso leading Parliament free m the Erection of restricting or prohibiting the irflux of Japanese laborers and artisans. The latest , dfc? advices showed that Japan had con sented to this proviso.
