HOSPITAL CONCERT.

What proved to be one of the most I enjoyable entertainments of the kind was given at the Hospital last night, when Madam Thompson and her pupils, who compriß3 the" Palmerston Glee Club, rendored some of the choicest music to the great delight of the patients. | The programme opened with a chorus entitled "Carnivale," which was loudly applauded for its harmonious rendering, as was also the tasteful singing of the " Angles Serenade " by Madam Thompson. Adam's magnificent song, "The Holy City," was then most faithfully interpreted by Mr Gamble. Two duets were sung during the evening which were much enjoyed. I'he rendering of "Going to Market" and '-My Sweetheart when a Boy" by Miss Brogden and Mr Bogers respectively, were much enjoyed and loudly applauded, and Nurse Alice for her singing of "The River of Tears" narrowly escaped an enoore. Tho second part of the entertainment was opened by a solo and chorus, the former being taken most artistically by Madam Thompson, and the ohorus, by the ladies of the Club, left nothing to be desired. As a performer on the violin Mr Kitchen at once established himself as a great favourite with the audience, and received an encore for his solo. Miss Malcolm's I singing of " The Children's Home " was loudly clapped, and " The Fairies," by Miss Gruhb, .was muoli appreciated. Madame Thompson's rendering of the ooquettish song " No Sir," was so much to the liking of the audience that they demanded an encore, in response to which "Coming thro' the Rye" was given. " The Tickling Trio," by Madam Thompson,'' and Messrs Rogers and Gamble was also encored and repeated. In addition to the items mentioned Madame Thompson played several bolos on the piano and recited " A debut of an actress at Drury Lano Theatre "■ in a style that kept her audience all attention and the applause was as though they would keep her reciting all the evening, Piano accompaniments wore played by I the Misses Millar and violin solos by Mr I\itohen.
