Debating societies tonight. Impounding notice inserted. St Peters' social at Drill Hall Thursday. Tiritea social and dance on Wednesday next. Advertisor wants to let four-roomed house. Concert and dance at Komoko on Friday. Mrs J. Boon, laundress, Cuba-street inserts a notice. Mr L. G. West, architect, calls for tenders for the erection of municipal offices. On Friday at 1 o'clock Mr J. R. McMillan, under instructions from Mr Hansen, will sell fruit trees and shrubs. [illegible] ociation.) [illegible] ANUI, July 13. [illegible] the firing party [illegible] funeral, arrived at [illegible] 10 a.m. after a fair [illegible] the coast from Wellington. [illegible] called at Gisborne early [illegible] ning and received a large local [illegible] ment, including the Hon. J. [illegible] rol, who represents the Government; Mr Booth, Resident Magistrate; Rev. Herbert Williams, the officiating clergyman ; and Majors Porter, Finn and McCredie, who, with Lieut. Hislop, Commander of the New Zealand Navals, will be pall-bearers. The Gisborne City Band were also passengers, and will play the Dead March at the funeral. The firing party consists of twenty-five permanent artillerymen under Major Messenger. A heavy surf is breaking on the shore and great care had to be taken in landing the passengers from the Government steamer. The navals are now some miles in front, on the road for Waiomatini, Ropata's late house, some six miles inland, and it will probably be late In the afternoon before they return. There is a large assembly of natives from all parts of the district and the ceremony promises to be a very imposing one.
