LAWTON'S NOVELTY COMPANY.

In referring to the above company, which opens at (be Theatre Royal tomorrow night, an exchange says If it were necessary to gam up the eatortainmart given by the above company'iu three words we should say it is bright, refined, and novel. These terms iSannot be applied to all variety performances. Mr Lawton's company numbers twenty srtis es, and naturally it is expected that they wll p-cduce something goodi. An old comedian himself, Alf, Lawton knows exactly What the patrons of the theatre require, and he has certAfbly shown much judgment in securing talent necessary to produoe a varied programme. There are nine ladies, all ot whom are fair vocalists, and several are excellent dancers, while Miss Eunia* Fernandez can, and does charm an audience with mandolin playing. Then (hp niggers as part and parcel of the minstrel entertainment are rtpresented by four very good specimens of the I. Ethiopian—James Mooney end Gas Franks (bonef), Alf. Lawton and Mike Maher (tarnbos). Mr Harry Fitzmaurica is the interlocu'or. The latter part of their programme is | decidedly novel—the fighting Kangaroo | and the performance cf Onda on the i trapeze. The htter is a splendid | trapezist, and his feats, while difficult, are gracefully done.
