Supreme Court at Palmerston North.

fays the Feilding Star: —The attempts of the Palmerston authorities to get Supreme Court sittings held in that town should be looked onwith considerable favour by every resident within, say, thirty miles. Not only would the colony save money but the settlers and all connected with such sittings would be spared the loss of much valuable time and expense. But there is another advantage, and! that is the jury list would be much extended, and the interests of justice thereby further protected. It is notorious that the limited number of jurors in the large centres where Supreme Court sittings are held, has - led to failures of justice in too many instances. It has been said that "jurors are the same all over the world " and with some degree of truth, no doubt, but there are jurors, and in "country cases, country jurora" are the best, not only from their special knowledge but from the fact are inop>, vytependenftrin chsl ?ter, I 'ivYiYle their surrCffnaings are apl to be I of a more elevating nature than (Stains !in the case of town jurors. We are Suite aware this opinion is open to ispute or debate, cut that notwithstanding it is the result of the experience of men high in the law in the Old Country. We hope, therefore, the efforts of our Palmerston neighbours will be successful.
